Alex Hagman

Hello, my name is Alex Hagman and I’m excited to run for the Sunset Water Board! I value the expertise that the current board has and hope to learn from and continue their good work by joining the board.
I was born and raised in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado in the 80s and 90s, and have seen how the rapid growth of that region has made water discussions incredibly important. I moved to Fort Collins in 2009 to race my bicycle professionally and fell in love with the area, realizing then I would stay for the long haul, and have lived on Hollywood since 2018. Since retiring from racing in 2014, I have worked in a variety of fields giving me a unique skill set to contribute to the Board. I was a driver trainer for passenger CDL buses for GreenRide (now Groome), I am a licensed real estate agent, and most recently have started a business importing Teak wood from Costa Rica. In each of these careers I have been required to learn a new skill and develop new knowledge to be successful. I am now raising two young kiddos, who will both be at Irish elementary in the fall, and also raising 9 chickens and a bunch of veggies in our garden. I have always been a bit nerdy about water (who else has read The Last Water Hole in the West” for fun?), but raising my kids gives me a different lens for caring about this precious resource. I know we are unique in having our own community led water board, and believe working within our community in this way is an important and exciting way to connect with each other and support the sustainable future of our sweet corner of FC.
Mark Easter

I’m running for the Sunset Water District Board because I’d like to give back to the neighborhood that has supported me for more than thirty years. I moved to my home off of Hollywood Street in 1994, where I have lived ever since. I am an ecologist, and I spent my career working on sustainable agricultural methods at Colorado State University and in private industry until retiring in 2023.
I value collaborating with neighbors and others in the community to achieve common goals. I have volunteered time with neighbors to support and maintain Gate 53 off of the Pleasant Valley Lake and Canal, which delivers irrigation water to my property. I have also volunteered within the community and Larimer County on multiple open space campaigns and community organizations. After the August supercell thunderstorm in 1997 flooded the neighborhood, my wife and I donated an easement through our property to Sunset Water District for new water lines that were necessary. I believe my commitment to the neighborhood and community, along with my experiences at work and volunteering with other organizations, will be an asset to the Sunset Water District Board, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve there.
Debra Younkin

My name is Debra Younkin, but I prefer Debbie. My husband and I have been in Sunset Water District for over 41 years. I would love to be part of the Sunset Water Board, I feel it would be a great way to give back to the community. I remember back in the day when we use to pay our water bill at Harlan Grummets home on Sunset.
I am retired and my background includes working in manufacturing, customer service and the last several years of my working life I was in Human Resources. Since retiring I have volunteered at Poudre Valley Hospital, mostly during the pandemic and later I volunteered at Animal Friends Alliance. I believe my wide range of experience and skills would be an asset to the board.

Deborah Kiser

I’ve lived in this neighborhood and relied on Sunset Water for 25 years now. As a recently retired veterinarian, I welcome the opportunity to serve my community. Over the years I have developed a personal interest and keen awareness of water issues unique to Colorado, and understand their critical importance to our communities here and our future. Our neighborhood is a “rare gem” in so many ways, and I am personally committed to preserving and protecting this small, close-knit community we value so much!
